Parents often worry about their teens going trough heavy things in their life. Some parents hardly notice their depression and teens use drugs and alcohol which can lead to suicide. It’s a real problem, causing deaths of thousands of teenagers across the country every year. Some frequently asked questions family and friends asked are: What is the most common warning signs that somebody is seriously considering suicide? Why is suicide so common among teens? And is their anyway I can help my friend talking out of suicide and is there any preventions for committing suicide? Suicide doesn’t happen for a simple reason.

There are a lot of most common warning signs that somebody is considering suicide. For instance, a teen would talk about how they wish they were dead rather being alive and they would say how everyone will be much happier everyone would be if they were dead. In the play of Romeo and Juliet, Juliet wishes that she were dead rather than being alive to marry Paris and to not be with Romeo. Another example of a warning sign is when a sudden, unexpected and tragic event happens to another person causing depression to the person. Depression is the most common warning sign a teen can consider to commit suicide. In the play, both Romeo and Juliet were depressed; they wished that they were rather dead because they weren’t with each other.

Teens who feel unsupported by peers and/or family may turn to suicide to ease their pain. Some teens are very hard on themselves, they desire to fit in, the need to feel accepted, the constant pressure to be a good kid and a cool person are especially stressful during the teen years. The reason why suicide is so common among teens for the rate of suicide including hormonal influences, undiagnosed or emerging mental illness, and intense psychological struggles. Teens have been reported to have a rich fantasy around the event. Rich fantasy includes being noticed after death by those who have ignored them, making people regret the things they said or have done to the person to make their self to commit suicide. This does not mean that teen suicides are not serious attempts to die; any suicide attempt is a serious thing. For example, in the play, Romeo was not supported by anyone only by his friends, Mercutio and Benvolio. He said that he want to be with Juliet and not with anyone else because she was the love of his life and he wanted to kill himself because they weren’t with each other. He killed himself at the end of the play because he though that Juliet was dead. Juliet had then woken up from the potion and saw that Romeo was really dead and she took the dagger and stabbed herself, committing suicide to the both of the characters.

There are many ways that suicide can be prevented. You can call a suicide hotline, go to a trusted adult and talk to them about your depression your going through. Juliet and Romeo both tried to get help, they went to Friar Laurence and asked him what should they do in order to be together. Teens today don’t think, they’ll just think that no one will be there to help them. Calling the suicide hotline is maybe the best thing to do, you can either talk to them in person, and you can talk to them over the phone and they’ll understand your problems. Also, telling a trusted adult is also a best way to tell someone about your issues, they can either help you, they can cheer you up, and they will understand you. There are plenty of ways you can talk your way out of suicide, either telling an adult, calling the a suicide hotline, and go counseling for your problems and they can help you.

I AM Poem

I AM Poem by Steven L

I am Smart and Outgoing
I wonder how my future will impact everyone
I hear loud thunderstorms in the spring
I see cloudy weather with rain coming down the sky
I want to be a Pharmacist one day
I am Steven L

I pretend to be invisible
I feel like I should have more confidence
I touch the soft, white clouds in the sky
I worry about my grades and earning my credits
I cry when I see someone else that’s sad
I am Steven L

I understand that I’m smart and  talented in my own way that people don’t see
I say that people should appreciated other for what they do
I dream that the world will become better and everyone can actually get along with eachother
I try to do my best in school and try to make everyone happy
I hope that by the end of the school year, I will have confidence, that everyone will get along, that I earn all my credits, and that I should persue my dreams.

List Poem

February 8, 2011

I’ve got to wake up at six

Schooling everyday

No time to joke and play

Having no time to sleep or rest

Studying for my major test.

I’ve got to take the sub

Dealing with ignorance on the train

Walking alone in the rain

Taking out the trash

Time to rest

for another exhausting day.

To kill a mockingbird

Harper Lee

The author wrote this book to show racism and judging people before you get to know them. Throughout the story she has learned how to not judge people because of her father.

I think this book is for all students in high school.

Rate: 9

The person who has changed the most is scout, she judge people and she hardly knew them and by the end of the story she has learned how to not judge people. Her father had told her that she shouldn’t just judge people she should get under their skin in order to judge them.

Lady or The Tiger Questions.

February 1, 2011

Where did the king sit in the arena? The king sat around his court, he sat high in his throne on one side of the court.

Did the tiger come out of the same door each trial? No, because you don’t know which door will the tiger will come out of. So the tiger did not come out the door each trial.

Did the princess like the lady who had been chosen to her lover’s ‘trial’? The princess didn’t like the lady who was chosen for her lover’s trial because she was going to be the wife of his lover.

How did the princess indicate the door to her lover choice? The princess went with her heart and chose the door her heart and what her mind chosed.

What had the princess seen in her dream? She saw herself and the prince marrying after going through all the problems they’re going through.

Did the princess expect her lover to ask to indicate which door he should choose? No, the princess did not expect her lover to ask her door to indicate which he would choose.

Why did no one else in the arena notice that the princess was communicating with her lover? They were really not communicating physically, there love was strong that they saw in each other eyes and they were communicating by making eye contact.

It all happen when I was in kindergarten, I had a navy blue sweater that had my name written on the tag, so my sweater won’t get mixed up with anyone elses sweater, which all the kids had to wear a navy blue sweater in our school. The day was a friday and we had show and tell time. All the kids had went up, except for me. When it was my turn to get up, I took off my sweater and hung it up  at the coat hanger place that each had our name written neatly, on a piece of white, plain sticker on it, where all the other navy blue sweaters were at.

It was bout time to go to lunch, and everybody rushed into the coat hanger place and grab their sweaters so fast, that most of everyone sweaters fell on the floor. When I got to mines, my sweater was on the floor with another one. I didn’t know exactly which one was mines, so I just grabbed a sweater. I knew it wasn’t mines because it didn’t have my name on it. So I went to my teacher and told her that his wasn’t my sweater. ” A sweater is a sweater.” she said. I was really angry with her. My sweater wasn’t just a sweater, mines was made by hand. I went to my table and started to cry. My teacher came to my table and asked what was wrong and I told her that this wasn’t my sweater. She started to feel bad and asked everyone to check their sweater tag. Everyone checked. But no one had it. There was this one boy who had went to the bathroom, my teacher was curious and told him to check if it was his sweater. He was also surprised. “I should have never rushed, I’m sorry Mrs. Rose and Steven.” he said. He apologized and gave me back my sweater. I went home, and told my mom the insane story I had that day.

Six Passages

December 21, 2010

1. “I felt the sweat run down my back..”

Second paragraph on page 55.

I think in this passage I was very shocked how they gave him twenty-five strokes of whip. I was very impacted on that because he was just young and he took those twenty-five whips. My reaction was that I felt very bad and sad for the boy.

2. ” The first blocks began to march…”

Last paragraph on page 80.

My reaction to this passage was astounded to the treatment to the Jews. They was not allowed to eat & had to march. They’re doing a lot of physical activities and there not allowed to eat.

3. “He seemed to be telling the truth….”

Second paragraph on page 30.

After reading this passage, I was very shocked that they burned up babies in the crematory. I was also very sad because I’ve never saw someone evil did that to innocent babies. I really felt bad for the babies after reading this passage.

4. ” We continued our march…”

Page 31.

My reaction to this after reading this was that it was very shocking. I think it was very depressing on what the nazi did to the jews. I think its very a shame that the nazi did something so evil to them. They should of atleast gave them time to eat and to rest.

Found Poetry from Night

But it was in vain.

Our terror was about to burst the sides of the train,

our nerves were at breaking point,

our flesh was creeping.

It was as though madness were taking possession of us all.
